Westport House is a nationally recognized sober living program designed to reintegrate young men back into independence with the skills, practical experience, and foundation in recovery that best positions them for long-term success. Building upon the gains made during inpatient treatment, we emphasize goal-oriented action and the practical application of new coping skills to real life situations. Independence and personal responsibility gradually increase, with support from a team of experienced recovery professionals, individualized addiction treatment services, and graduated levels of residential care. Following the basic principles of the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, our highly personalized sober living environment helps each client develop the confidence and skills to lead a sober life full of meaning and purpose.

Westport, Connecticut, is a seaside community located approximately 48 miles north of New York City. Originally an artists’ colony, Westport has become one of the most affluent suburbs in America, culturally rich and diverse, filled with a blend of academics, corporate leaders, business executives, artists, writers, and musicians, reflecting its international flavor. Yet, it still retains the old New England small-town charm on its streets. With a population of approximately 27,000 people, Westport’s small-town atmosphere provides a retreat for our residents – away from the challenges of home and urban environments. The downtown area offers tremendous employment opportunities with everything from one-of-a-kind boutiques to national chain and luxury retail locations. Restaurants and eateries abound and a thriving arts and cultural community means fine art exhibitions, outstanding performances at venues such as the Westport Country Playhouse and The Levitt Pavilion, a large library, churches and synagogues, and museums. Recreational pursuits are diverse with numerous beaches, parks and public recreation facilities. But the most important factor in Westport’s location is the recovery community that it supports. With nearly fifty 12-step meetings each week in Westport (not to mention the surrounding communities of Southport, Fairfield, Wilton, Norwalk, Darien, and Weston), we are home to one of the strongest concentrations of 12-Step recovery in the entire northeast.
