Squaw Valley, California AA Meetings

Squaw Valley, the host site for the 1960 Winter Olympics, is located in Olympic Valley California. The Ski Resort is equipped with Alcohol Anonymous meeting points to provide support to anyone who needs help with alcohol use disorder. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a brain disease where people struggle to control their urges to drink. It may be mild, moderate, or severe. If an individual meets two or more of 11 criteria in a 12-month period they will be diagnosed with AUD. There are multiple factors that can cause AUD including regular binge drinking, emotional issues, peer pressure, low self-esteem, and different forms of abuse. Millions of adults in the world are diagnosed with the disorder. There are several negative consequences of AUD including health, social and financial damages, and in extreme cases, death. AUD also negatively affects people who are close to the drinker such as spouses, family members, co-workers, and in some cases even the general public. Women who get pregnant for men who are addicted to alcohol are at risk of developing fetal alcohol syndrome and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
