Types of AA Meetings
Big Book: Michigan AA programs frequently use the Big Book to inspire clients. This anthology contains stories about real people who overcame alcohol use disorder.
Literature: Michigan literature-based AA meetings are community support meetings for men and women who are impacted by alcohol addiction. Free to attend and open to all ages, these community support meetings offer a study of the Big Book of AA and other AA literature within AA’s 12-step recovery program.
Meditation: Meditation AA meetings feature physical and emotional calmness as a main method of healing. The meetings open with 15 minutes of private mediation and close with an additional 5 minutes of meditation.
Newcomer: In Michigan, AA newcomer meetings are available for individuals who are just starting their alcohol addiction recovery journey and want to learn more about how the program operates. The discussions are usually led by members who have been sober a while, and may include an overview of Steps 1-3.
