Types of AA Meetings

Candlelight: Candlelight AA meetings are sessions in which members bring candles, usually white, that represent their hopes and goals. When each member shares, that member lights their candles as they discuss their challenges and successes.

Discussion: In Wyoming, AA discussion meetings focus on one specific topic related to alcohol addiction and recovery. Leaders will choose the topic beforehand, normally drawing inspiration from an AA text, such as As Bill Sees It. They will share first and then other members are encouraged to discuss what the topic means to them.

Open: In Wyonming, open AA meetings are accessible to anyone from the public who wants to learn more about the AA model of alcohol addiction recovery, including the 12 step program. This includes alcoholics seeking help on their sobriety journey as well as their friends, relatives, and loved ones.

Wheelchair Access: Non-ambulatory clients in Wyoming may have wheelchair access to participate in their AA meetings. The facility may include exterior ramps, designated parking, and open layouts in meeting halls, restrooms, and other amenities.

Wheelchair-Accessible Bathroom: Selected AA centers offer wheelchair-accessible bathrooms for participants. These bathrooms have enough space for a wheelchair to safely navigate, and can include private stalls with guardrails, reachable toilet paper and seat cover dispensers, a wash basin, and other amenities.
