Types of AA Meetings
Big Book: The Big Book is a regular subject of discussion in New Hampshire AA meetings. This anthology contains stories about real men and women who successfully managed their alcohol use disorder.
Daily Reflections: Daily Reflections is an AA text that compiles insight, experience, and encouragement from various members. Selected contents may be topics of discussions in AA meetings. Members can also adapt reflections into their daily activities.
Discussion: AA discussion meetings in New Hampshire focus on one specific topic related to alcohol addiction and recovery. These topics normally come from an AA text, such as the Big Book. The leader will share the topic, add their personal insights, and open the floor for members to share reflections.
Gay: Gay AA chapters can consist of members who are homosexual men or are simply gay-friendly. Topics in discussion are frequently related to issues facing gay men and their recovery.
LGBTQ: Selected AA chapters focus on providing a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, and generally welcome LGBTQ+ allies. These groups prioritize members’ recovery and sobriety within a non-heteronormative context.
Speaker: AA programs in New Hampshire frequently include motivational speakers. These Speakers are usually AA alumni and use with, reason, emotions, and faith to inspire listeners to strengthen their sobriety.
Step Meeting: New Hampshire AA centers feature step meetings in their programs. Members read from AA texts, discuss their progress with the stage in the 12 Step Program, and make plans for future progress in the next meeting.
