Types of AA Meetings

Closed: Closed AA meetings in Oklahoma are only accessible to members of AA and anyone who recognizes they have a drinking problem and wants to find help. The discussions are related to alcoholism and recovery and offer an opportunity for everyone to share.

Living Sober: AA centers may have selected sessions set aside for Living Sober discussions. This text is secular in nature, and focuses on practical ways that members have used to stay sober one day at a time.

Newcomer: AA newcomer meetings in Oklahoma allow experienced AA members to share insights and information with people who are just starting their recovery from alcohol addiciton and aren’t familiar with how the program works. These discussions usually include an overview of Steps 1, 2, and 3.

Secular: Secular AA meetings lack a faith-based component of healing and tend to focus on practical experiences and challenges. Secular meetings are usually attended by atheist, agnostic, and non-religious members.
