Types of AA Meetings
Literature: Michigan literature-based AA meetings are community support meetings for men and women who are impacted by alcohol addiction. Free to attend and open to all ages, these community support meetings offer a study of the Big Book of AA and other AA literature within AA’s 12-step recovery program.
Open: Open AA meetings in Michigan allow anyone who wants to learn more about AA and the 12 step model of recovery to attend. This may include individuals seeking support for alcohol use disorder or nonalcoholics who want to support their friends, loved ones, and relatives on their recovery journey.
Speaker: In Michigan, AA programs often feature motivational speakers. Speakers reinforce audience members’ sobriety through humor, raw emotions, faith, and charm.
Young People: AA meetings for young people are intended for members in early adulthood, usually in their late teens and twenties. These groups focus on the experiences and issues that young people may face in their recovery.
