The city of New London, CT is a city that has seen its fair share of the destruction misuse of alcohol can bring to its inhabitants. Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is an addiction making the patient susceptible to their uncontrollable desire to consume alcohol in large amounts. It is often consumed in a short amount of time and includes the desire to consistently drink and reaches a point where it becomes impulsive. At any stage of the disorder, a patient should seek treatment early and try to get a handle on it. Because many types of treatments are available in different forms, a treatment course can be detailed for a person with their specific needs and conditions in mind. Within these treatment methods, we find a community support group known as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) that works towards providing affected individuals with a supportive environment that can aid their recovery process.
