Gretna, Nebraska AA Meetings

Gretna is a city in Sarpy County, Nebraska. As with many other areas in Nebraska, there are many AA meetings in Gretna to help its residents who are battling alcohol use disorder. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) has become the gold standard for group support treatment for alcohol use disorder worldwide. Part of the reason for that is its long history of success at helping people achieve long-lasting sobriety. It got its start at a meeting in Akron, Ohio, in 1935 between a businessman Bill Wilson and a physician, Bob Smith. Smith was inspired to stop using alcohol after meeting Wilson, who overcame alcohol use disorder through his affiliation with a Christian movement. It is important to note that AA is not affiliated with any one religion, nor is it a requirement for members to hold any specific religious beliefs. Determined to help other people, the men founded AA and soon after published “The Big Book,” which documented their philosophy, principles, and methods, including the now world-famous ‘Twelve Steps.’ The book’s original title was simply Alcoholics Anonymous, but was later replaced with “The Big Book” because of the thickness of the pages of its original copy. Locations to AA meetings in Gretna can be found in this directory. You can contact our specialists if you are looking for formal rehab treatment outside of AA meetings in Nebraska.
