As a nonprofit organization, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) prepares its members for the difficulties that arise from quitting alcohol use after dependency. In AA, members get the opportunity to meet people with similar issues, and this helps them understand their addiction and accept it as a disease that should be treated. It also helps them accept the fact that they have become dependent on alcohol and can no longer easily stop using it. This will help them ease any blame they put on themselves in turn helping them move on.
