Mandan is one of the largest cities in North Dakota. With its population size, it is no wonder that there are several AA meetings in Mandan. The history of AA can be traced back to 1935, when Bill Wilson and Dr. Robert Smith first began the group. Since then, the program has grown to become an international organization. The founders were two self-identified alcoholics, Bill W. from New York and Dr. Bob S. from Akron. In its infancy, AA received favorable press coverage.
