Newberg, Oregon AA Meetings

When recovering from Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), it might be essential that a person finds a community that can offer support and encouragement in the process. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is one community that has existed for many years and has been working to help people all around the globe beat their alcohol addictions. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship founded by two people who themselves were struggling with alcohol use, namely Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in 1935. A few years after, they were able to put out a book, known formally as “Alcoholics Anonymous” or informally as the “Big Book” as referred to by the members of the fellowship. This book includes guiding principles that they believe have proven to be effective in helping anyone who wants to stop using alcohol succeed. AA Oregon tries to use these exact principles to help members of its community recover. If it’s your first time attending AA meetings in Newberg, it’s normal to feel uncomfortable or intimidated because it involves admitting to strangers that you’re facing a problem and that you need help to recover. But experienced members know that new members almost always feel that way and try their best to make newcomers feel welcome and do not require them to share if they don’t feel like doing so.
