Alcoholic use disorder is a brain disorder that involves a person drinking excessively to a point where both their body and mind are dependent on it to function. AA Texas is concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety of individual alcoholics who turn to them for help. People who are suffering from AUD don’t even have the power to stop themselves from drinking. The disorder brings about many negative consequences including health problems both physical and mental and problems in the individual’s interpersonal relationships. The social relationships usually fall apart do to neglect or anger on the users’ side. This anger comes from the fact that friends and families try to make you stop drinking by telling you that you’ve got a problem and that ends very poorly. Aside from AA Texas, other recommended treatments for residents in Texas dealing with AUD are to visit a psychological counselor to help figure out the root causes of the drinking, taking prescribed medications, and going through a medically managed detox or withdrawal process.
