Chester, West Virginia AA Meetings
Chester is a city in Hancock County, West Virginia, situated along the Ohio River. If you have an alcohol addiction and you live in the local area, our online directory of AA meetings in Chester can help you find a supportive group near you to help you remain sober.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) has a rich history. Many of the program traditions evolved from the struggles experienced by the early founders, Bill Willson (Bill W.) and Dr. Bob Smith (Dr. Bob). For example, when the AA program began, there were no sponsors. However, when Bill W. helped Dr. Bob get sober, they experienced what is known today as the first act of sponsorship. Sponsorship is a mentorship relationship between an experienced AA member with some time in sobriety and a newcomer. Sponsors share their AA stories, including how it was before AA, what changed after working the 12 Steps of AA, and what it’s like today.
An AA sponsor works with a sponsee on a 1:1 basis, teaching the newcomer how to integrate the 12 Steps into daily life. Sponsorship gives a beginner an understanding of how to work the program and a supportive friend. Call our helpline today if you would like to learn about more structured addiction treatment programs (such as inpatient or outpatient rehab programs) to complete on your road to recovery.
