Challenge your friends and family to a dry January and get a free month of therapy

Sober App partners with BetterHelp offering a free month (4 sessions) of therapy to those who commit to going dry in January

Sober has developed a fun challenge for those who restrain from alcohol or reduce their consumption in January through its free app. Users can create a team to invite their family, friends or colleagues to help encourage each other and provide a sense of camaraderie.

For extra motivation, Sober.com has teamed up with BetterHelp.com to offer a month of free therapy with an estimated value of $300.

Sober with BetterHelp:

The partnership aims to support individuals taking a break from alcohol after the excesses of the holidays and provide tools to prioritize their mental well-being.

With Sober App’s challenge to go dry in January and BetterHelp’s professional online counseling, participants can make meaningful strides to improve their lives.

“Participating in a dry January challenge isn’t just about hitting pause on alcohol – it’s an invitation to take a deeper look at yourself and your habits,” said Haesue Jo, licensed therapist and head of Clinical Operations at BetterHelp.

“Ignoring your mental health while taking a break from alcohol is like trying to build a house without a foundation or trying to run a marathon without prior training.

“Therapy helps you get honest with yourself, connect the dots, and consider the why behind your actions. That reflection is where real change begins,” she added. “Plus, having professional support can make a potentially uncomfortable or revealing journey feel a lot less lonely and a lot more productive.”

About the challenge:

The challenge to stay dry in January encourages users to embrace an alcohol-free lifestyle or reduce alcohol consumption throughout the month. Participants can download the free Sober App, join the challenge, and effortlessly track their daily progress using the app’s user-friendly features.

This initiative offers the opportunity to be part of a larger, global movement and conversation about sobriety and mental health, highlighting its social significance and impact on millions of people across the globe.

In 2024, over 30 million Americans pledged to go alcohol-free for January, demonstrating the growing movement toward mindful living and alcohol-free challenges.

Why It Matters:

The challenge is more than cutting out alcohol. It’s about resetting habits, improving health, and building resilience. This initiative adds therapy to help participants dig deeper and make lasting changes.
