Types of AA Meetings
Big Book: Utah AA programs often feature the Big Book in discussion groups. This anthology is a collection of stories about real people who successfully controlled their alcohol use disorder and can inspire participants to do the same.
Open: Open AA meetings in Utah are not restricted to members only. Anyone from the public can attend to learn more about how the program works, what the 12 step recovery model includes, and how they can support someone they know with alcohol addiction. Members may share their personal stories and recovery journeys while non-members can listen and observe.
Step Meeting: AA centers often include step meetings in Utah’s 12 Step Programs. In these meetings, groups read from Twelve Steps, converse about how these excerpts relate to their own experience, and strategize on ways to improve their resilience.
Wheelchair Access: Non-ambulatory clients in Utah may have wheelchair access for their AA meetings. The centers may have designated parking, exterior ramps, and open floor plans for safe navigation throughout the facility.
