Types of AA Meetings
Closed: In Connecticut, closed AA meetings are only available to members and individuals who want to seek help for a drinking problem. Newcomers can ask questions and learn more about the program and others can share their sobriety journey and offer hope for the future.
Living Sober: AA centers may have selected sessions set aside for Living Sober discussions. This text is secular in nature, and focuses on practical ways that members have used to stay sober one day at a time.
Newcomer: In Connecticut, AA newcomer meetings offer an opportunity for individuals in the early stages of alcoholism recovery to learn more about AA, ask questions, and receive resources. The discussions usually focus on the first three steps of AA’s 12 step program.
Women: Connecticut women’s AA meetings are peer support meetings for women who are impacted by alcohol addiction. The meetings are free for all women to attend, using a 12-step program to help women at all stages of alcoholism recovery. They offer a safe and productive space for community support for women of all ages.
