Types of AA Meetings

Call Up: An AA “call up” meeting refers to an open opportunity for AA members and non-members to speak about their experiences. Call up meetings allow members and the public to address individual and group challenges that may have been overlooked in discussions.

Closed: In South Dakota, only members and indviiduals seeking help for alcohol addiction can attend open AA meetings. They are not accessible to outside community members. The discussion topics relate to alcoholism and recovery and everyone is invited to share.

Wheelchair Access: South Dakota’s AA centers may feature wheelchair access for non-ambulatory clients. The facility may have designated parking and exterior ramps, along with open floor plans to access meeting halls, restrooms, and amenities.
