Geneseo, New York AA Meetings
Geneseo is a town in Livingston County in the Finger Lakes region of New York; the city is in five-county Rochester Metropolitan Area. If you are coping with alcohol use disorder and live in the local area, find an AA meeting in a convenient location for you.
To recover from alcohol addiction, you must first develop a belief that you can make change that wil lead to a happier life. This is where a belief in a higher power (HP) comes in. An HP is something that you believe in that is larger than yourself. It could be God, but doesn’t necessarily have to involve a deity. It could be spending time in nature, or your HP could even be your AA group. The importance of an HP is to have faith that something outside of yourself can bring you peace. If you assign your AA group, such as Alcoholics Anonymous NY, your higher power, it makes a lot of sense.
Knowing that you have a place where people understand and support you that you are not alone is a motivating factor for many people in AA.
But sometimes, AA is not enough to help a person get sober; many people need to a more structured program, such as alcohol detox (which should be done in an inpatient treatment facility) or a rehabilitation program (rehab).
