Stanford, California AA Meetings

Like so many other areas in America, Stanford has several residents who are struggling with a dependency on alcohol. Knowing this the census-designated place located in the northwest corner of Santa Clara County has set up AA meetings in Stanford for them to receive support. When people are dependent on alcohol despite the damage it causes, they are considered addicted to alcohol. There are several medications used to treat alcohol addiction including detox, which flushes alcohol out of the system; counseling that teaches them important life skills and strategies; medications that make drinking less enticing and group therapy and support groups. Unlike group therapy which is led by a therapist, support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous or AA are led by people who recovered from alcohol addiction. AA is an international fellowship with the main objective of helping men and women overcame an addiction to alcohol. Its meetings utilize a renowned 12 Step program that encourages its members to aim for a spiritual transformation through prayer and meditation. The program also encourages accountability and responsibility from its members for their alcohol addiction.
