Seffner, Florida AA Meetings
Seffner is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County, Florida, approximately 13 miles east of downtown Tampa. Newcomers and experienced AA members (called “old-timers”) are welcome to join AA meetings in Seffner FL. Our online database of Florida AA meetings can help you find local addiction recovery groups. There are several types of meetings listed on our AA directory, including open meetings, special interest meetings, beginners meetings, and step, tradition or Big Book meetings. To a beginner, the meeting directory may be confusing. Here is a breakdown of the various meeting types you’ll see listed.
Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous; these meetings focus on educating participants about AA. Open meetings may also include speaker meetings. A speaker is an experienced AA member with some sobriety who tells a story of the person’s AA recovery to the group participants. Specialized groups include meetings for men or women only, young people’s meetings (usually involving those from their late teens to early 20s), doctors’ or lawyers’ meetings, LGBT, or other special groups. Beginners’ meetings are facilitated by an experienced AA member with some time in sobriety. Beginners’ meetings are usually discussion groups, formatted as question-and-answer sessions to help beginners learn about AA; these meetings may also discuss Steps one, two, or three. Step, Tradition, or Big Book meetings involve studying the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions as described in the primary text used in AA, called “The Big Book.”
