Blackfoot, Idaho AA Meetings
Blackfoot is a city in Bingham County, Idaho. It is known as the “Potato Capital of the World” boasting the largest potato industry in any one area. However, the city also has a history of alcohol addiction. To tend to its residents who are suffering from alcohol addiction, the city has established AA meetings in Blackfoot. AA, or Alcoholics Anonymous, is a peer support organization that specializes in helping people with alcohol dependence to fully recover and maintain sobriety. AA meetings are basically “therapy sessions” where people who depend on alcohol meet in o location. There are several types of AA meetings such as “Open”, “Closed,” and “ID meetings.” Most AA meetings are “Open” where anyone is welcome to attend. “Closed” meetings are restricted for AA members and for new participants who need help for alcohol addiction and want to stop drinking. There are also different types of discussion meetings such as “Steps meetings” where AA’s popular ‘Twelve Steps’ program of recovery is discussed in detail. The amount of people who attend AA meetings varies greatly. In cities, a typical AA meeting might have a minimum of ten to twenty participants. Some large meetings may have fifty or more attendees.
