Akron, Ohio AA Meetings
Akron is the fifth-largest city in Ohio and the county seat of Summit County. AA meetings in Akron were established as a way to help the community as a whole. But you’ll find much more than a rich history of AA meetings in Akron; this area is considered the birthplace of the organization.
In 1935, AA co-founders Bill W. and Dr. Bob met for the first time at at Akron’s Mayflower Hotel. The city is blessed to have many sites that allow you to learn about the history of AA Akron first-hand.
There’s also a small house tucked away on a quiet street in Akron, which was the life-long home of AA’s co-founder, Dr. Bob Smith, and his wife, Anne Ripley Smith. Built in 1915, Dr. Bob and his wife lived here for the next 34 years until their deaths: Anne in 1949 and Dr. Bob in 1950.
Today, there are a wealth of different AA Akron groups to choose from, including outings that include annual picnics and rounds of golf.
