Eldred, Pennsylvania AA Meetings
Like so many communities in the United States Eldred, located in McKean County, Pennsylvania, has a history of alcohol addiction. Therefore, the borough which was named after Judge Nathaniel B. Eldred has in place Alcohol Anonymous programs to offer support to its residents who are struggling with a dependence on alcohol. Alcoholics Anonymous or AA has become the go-to group therapy treatment method for alcohol addiction. One of the main reasons why that is the case is because of its guiding principles – the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions. Both are detailed in “The Big Book,” which is deemed as the organization’s bible. The ‘Personal Stories’ section of the book has inspired many people to strive for sobriety. Part 1 of the book details 10 stories from some members from the early days of AA that overcame alcohol addiction after going through the program. Part 2 shares 17 stories of people who were close to hitting rock bottom but were spared after attending AA meetings. Part 3 details 15 stories from AA members who suffered serious consequences such as hospitalization and institutionalization from alcohol addiction before regaining control of their lives after completing AA’s program.
