Export, Pennsylvania AA Meetings
Millions of people around the world are struggling with a dependency on alcohol or alcoholism. The borough of Export in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania has its fair share of people who are dealing with this debilitating disease. To help provide support for them the borough has Alcoholics Anonymous programs set up. There are six different types of AA meetings: Open speaker, where attendees tell their addiction stories; Open discussion, where individual members speak about their personal alcohol addiction experience; Closed discussion, is open only to those who are addicted to alcohol; Step meetings, are closed discussions on one of the program’s Twelve Steps processes; Informational meetings, mainly for programs such as Alcohol Safety Action Project and Driving While Intoxicated; and AA meetings held by members in correctional and treatment facilities.
