Millions of people around the world are struggling with a dependency on alcohol or alcoholism. There are six different types of AA meetings: Open speaker, where attendees tell their addiction stories; Open discussion, where individual members speak about their personal alcohol addiction experience; Closed discussion, is open only to those who are addicted to alcohol; Step meetings, are closed discussions on one of the program’s Twelve Steps processes; Informational meetings, mainly for programs such as Alcohol Safety Action Project and Driving While Intoxicated; and AA meetings held by members in correctional and treatment facilities.
