Grand Prairie, Texas AA Meetings

With well over 100,000 residents Grand Prairie is the fifteenth-most populous city in the state of Texas. Like many other cities and communities in Texas, Grand Prairie has a portion of its population that is struggling with a dependency on alcohol. To help its residents the city has put in place Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) programs. The guiding principles of AA are the 12 steps that call for accountability, responsibility, and a spiritual transformation from its members.
The first step is admitting that there is a problem, and help is needed to overcome it. Following the steps include deciding to quit; doing a moral inventory of one’s self; admitting to wrongs then making amends for it; and a commitment to continuous improvement. Following these steps allow for self-reflection and growth leading to positive changes in individuals’ lives. Due to the effectiveness and popularity of the 12 Steps, several other groups began to represent it or create a different version of it such as Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, and Debtors Anonymous. The steps are presented in a linear fashion and may be revisited until members are comfortable in that stage of their recovery process. AlcoholicsAnonymous.com lists all Grand Prairie AA meetings as well as other AA Texas meetings.
