Flippin is a city in Marion County, Arkansas. Incorporated in 1921, the town was named after Thomas H. Flippin’s family. A portion of Flippin’s tiny population is battling with alcohol addiction. Fortunately, these residents can resort to Alcoholics Anonymous programs that have been established in their area as a means of assistance for alcohol-related conditions. Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is a global group support organization that was founded by Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson in 1935 with the primary purpose of helping people get over alcohol addiction. The men, who themselves overcame alcohol addiction before starting AA, later established the now prominent ‘Twelve Steps’ program before establishing the ‘Twelve Traditions.’ Both methods control the organization – the ‘Twelve Steps’ focuses on the members while the ‘Twelve Traditions’ focuses on the operations and structure of the organization. The ‘Twelve Steps’ inspires accountability and also responsibility from AA participants. This leads them to confess that they have alcohol dependence and encourages them to own their recovery. Many of the steps highlight a connection with a higher power and also urge members to strive for a spiritual transformation through prayer and meditation. If you are a Flippin resident and need a transformation, you can get guidance in doing so by attending AA meetings in Flippin. to find the locations to these meetings you can search Sober.com, which groups other Arkansas AA meetings.
