Waukee is a city in Dallas County, Iowa. The city has a history of alcohol addiction. To address this and provide help to its residents who are suffering from the disease, Alcoholics Anonymous groups have been established inside the community. Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is an international group support organization that was created with the purpose of helping people from all over the world overcome alcohol addiction and achieve long-lasting sobriety. It is an informal society of more than two million people who are recovering or have recovered from alcohol addiction throughout the world. AA provides group support therapy that is trusted to be effective in reversing alcohol addiction. AA offers a simple path to recovery: lifelong abstinence from alcohol. Through its meetings component, AA encourages its members to surrender their ego, admit that they have a problem with alcohol, make amends for their past mistakes, develop a spiritual connection with a higher power through prayer and meditation, and take full responsibility for their recovery. AA does not discriminate against anyone for their religion, political affiliation, race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, or social and financial background.
