Wamego, Kansas AA Meetings
Wamego is a city in Pottawatomie County, Kansas. A portion of the city’s population is suffering from alcohol use disorder. Alcohol use disorder, or AUD, develops when an individual drinks heavily and consistently to the point where chemical changes occur in their brain. These changes heighten the pleasurable feelings when drinking alcohol, which will then lead to the individual wanting to drink more, despite suffering from its adverse effects. Eventually, the pleasure of drinking alcohol will be overshadowed by a need to avoid suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms are usually very frustrating and are accompanied by some unpleasant consequences such as extreme anxiety, stress, depression, chills, and sweaty palms. AUD usually develops after a period of consistent and excessive drinking. AUD also runs in families, so people who have a parent with AUD are at a higher risk of developing the disorder. There are other factors that increase the risk of developing AUD such as drinking more than twelve drinks per week; daily binge drinking (more than five drinks per day at least once a week); or if you are suffering from anxiety, depression, or schizophrenia. Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is one of the most effective forms of treatment for AUD. If you live in Wamego and are suffering from AUD, you can get help by attending AA meetings in Wamego. These meetings are listed in a group of AA meetings in Kansas on alcoholicsanonymous.com.
