AA meetings in Calvert County, Maryland, have supported people recovering from alcohol use disorder (AUD) for many years. This area is home to popular weekend resort towns. AUD is a medical condition whose primary traits are uncontrolled drinking and the breakdown of interpersonal relationships. People who have tried to control their drinking, but continue to struggle, need outside support to recover. Everyone in the meetings is encouraged to tell their own story, but sharing is not mandatory–those not ready to share should feel free to wait until they are.
