Excelsior, Minnesota AA Meetings
Excelsior is a smaller city in Hennepin County, in the US state of Minnesota. It is located approximately 15 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis. Alcohol use disorder must be dealt with quite seriously, as this matter can pose serious health issues such as cancer, stroke, liver disease. At the AA meetings in Excelsior, these persons with an AUD can access treatments. A local directory listing is provided giving information on the dates, time, and locations. AA Minnesota meetings practice the 12-step approach, and referral is done for medical detoxification at an overnight care program, medication assistance or therapy. Management of these meetings is carried out by previous members who were once helped by the program. They can perceive the necessity of giving back to the program since they have benefitted from it. They act as inspirators and motivators to these members. The atmosphere at the meetings is quite cordial, it allows for team spirit amongst the members. Some meetings allow all people to join, while other meetings are for members only.
