Sussex County, Delaware AA Meetings

For people experiencing the adverse effects of alcohol use disorder (AUD), AA meetings in Sussex County, Delaware, offer support. The largest county in the state today, Sussex, was founded as a whaling colony in 1631. People with AUD typically find they can’t stop or control alcohol use even though they struggle in their professional and personal relationships. Recovery from AUD is possible, but many people find they cannot do it on their own. Alcoholics Anonymous has been providing peer support groups to help people recover for nearly a century. Membership in AA is free, with the only requirement being a desire to stop drinking. Participants in AA meetings use the 12 Steps of AA as a framework for self-examination and growth; some groups study from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous—where the 12-step program is found and then discuss it as a group. Other groups study other AA literature. Whatever the group is studying, practicing the 12-steps is the structure of healing. In meetings, members have time to share their recovery stories, including where they were when they were drinking, what happened to bring them to recovery, and where they are now that they are successfully navigating lives without alcohol. Sharing is not mandatory, but all members are invited to participate. Find AA meetings in Delaware in our online directory.
