Fairfield may be a borough with a tiny population of around 500 but it does have a history of alcohol addiction. Located in Adams County, Pennsylvania, AA Fairfield has Alcoholics Anonymous programs in place to provide support to these residents. Alcoholics Anonymous is a group support therapy that has proven to be one of the most effective helping millions of people worldwide achieve sobriety. The guiding principles of Alcoholics Anonymous or AA are the popular 12 Steps and 12 Traditions. They are explained in detail in “The Big Book.” The book is AA’s main governing literature and is seen as the organization’s bible. One of the most important parts of the book is The ‘Personal Stories’ section that details accounts of past AA members’ stories about their alcohol addiction journey. The section has three main parts. Part 1 relates 10 stories from some of the earliest AA members who all achieved long-term sobriety through the AA program. Part 2 details 17 stories of people who were suffering from severe alcohol use disorder and were on the verge of hitting rock bottom but were rescued after attending AA meetings. Part 3 focuses on 15 stories from AA members who were hospitalized and institutionalized due to the consequences of a dependency on alcohol.
