Livermore, Maine AA Meetings
If you live in Livermore, Maine and you have alcohol use disorder, you may be looking for a support group to help you as you journey to recovery. There are several AA meetings in Livermore that you can attend. If you have not ever attended any of the AA meetings in Maine or around the country, you might be wondering what you should expect. Depictions of AA meetings are not exactly accurate. First, while members can be quite welcoming, nobody is going to force hugs on you. Members are very aware of personal boundaries. Second, you are not at all expected at all to stand and introduce yourself as a person with alcohol use disorder. AA is not affiliated with any particular religion and you are not expected to believe in any faith, but you might expect to hear the Serenity prayer. The AA preamble will be read by a member and some or all of the 12 Steps of AA and the 12 traditions might be read. After all this, a member leader will likely ask if there are any newcomers and if any are ready to introduce themselves and share. Keep in mind that you do not have to participate unless you are ready. Then the floor will likely be opened up for others to share.
