Sharon, Massachusetts AA Meetings
Sharon is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts; the city is part of Greater Boston, situated approximately 17 miles southwest of downtown Boston. Sharon is connected to both Boston and Providence by the Providence/Stoughton Line. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is said to be a recovery program of action. As part of the action steps, a person works the 12 Steps of AA, gets a sponsor, regularly attends AA Massachusetts meetings (or AA meetings elsewhere), and signs up for service (volunteer) work. “Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered from Alcoholism” (commonly referred to as The Big Book), is the primary text used in AA. In The Big Book, there are stories about recovery told by the early AA members and founders. In addition to directions on applying the 12 Steps, the Big Book provides instructions on incorporating them into daily life. AA members work the 12 Steps to take what is known in the program as the “right action.” A spiritual awakening is said to result from working the 12 Steps. Spiritual awakenings can be different for each group member, but it involves having a new outlook and attitude on life and recovery for many people. These changes in attitude, perception, and the way a person thinks are fundamental for recovery. Contact us today if you would like information on other, more structured addiction recovery programs (inpatient or outpatient rehab). We can help.
