Are you looking for AA meetings in Shelter Island? Shelter Island is a small city found in the state of NY. This city despite being small has had its own experience with alcohol use disorder. AUD is a disorder whereby an individual gets too dependent on drinking that their body feels wrong without it. When the individual is not drinking their internal environment changes drastically and withdrawal symptoms like insomnia, drowsiness, shaking and anxiety are exhibited. When this disorder occurs, drinking becomes the person’s priority and nothing can stop the urge to drink. These habits become so much that the person makes up excuses to drink at any time, even inappropriate times that could cause danger to the individual. One symptom of many that indicate a person suffers from AUD is being unable to control the urge to drink other symptoms may include being unable to fulfill important responsibilities at work, school or home and spending most of their time drinking and trying to find alcohol or getting over a hangover from alcohol use. NY AA meetings are organized to help individuals who fear they might be suffering from AUD but are taking the brave first step to improve that. Leading a life of sobriety might be hard, but it a lot easier when you have the support you need. That is what AA meetings provide.
