Harrison, Maine AA Meetings
Harrison is a renowned tourist area in Cumberland County, Maine. In addition to tourists, there are also AA meetings in Harrison. These along with other AA meetings in Maine are established in order to provide communal support to those with alcohol use disorder. You can expect no two meetings to be exactly alike, but many follow a very basic structure. To start a meeting, a member will typically read the AA preamble which gives high-level information about AA’s main principles. For example, this is probably where you’ll first hear that the only requirement for joining AA is the desire to stop using alcohol. You’ll also hear that AA is self-sufficient and does not charge membership dues. In other words, it is free, though you can donate money. After the preamble, the Serenity prayer might be given as well as a reading of one or more of AA’s 12 traditions. After this, members will be asked to share, starting usually with a chance for any newcomers to share. This is not a requirement. If you are in a Speaker meeting, this is typically when that speaker will share. Again this is just the basic structure of AA meetings in Harrison and other areas. Give our specialists a call if you are looking for formal rehab options outside of AA.
