Lisbon, Maine AA Meetings
Not to be confused with the Portuguese city, Lisbon is a growing town in Androscoggin County. There are AA meetings in Lisbon established to help provide support to those in the area with alcohol use disorder. These and other area meetings are just a portion of the overall AA meeting in Maine. AA was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson (Bill W.) and Dr. Bob Smith M.D, (Dr. Bob) in Akron, Ohio. Since its inception, AA has grown to be one of the most recognized names in recovery despite having no centralized governing system, and being entirely self supported. AA aims to provide a judgement free environment for anyone with alcohol use disorder with the only requirement for membership being that you desire to stop using alcohol. AA is all-inclusive and does not discriminate based on gender identification, age, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, and other characteristics or demographic traits. AA is free as it does not charge membership dues or fees. However, one should be expected to be asked for contributions to help fund a meeting or group. AA meetings in Lisbon should not be viewed as an alternative to formal rehab, but rather a complimenting source of support. If you are looking for formal rehab options, give our specialists a call.
